I would like to begin my first report as the National Associate Member Representative by saying that I am humbled and honored to serve in this capacity alongside my fellow Executive Board Members.

Since elected, I have had countless discussions with Associate Members through out all regions and they have expressed several concerns: the need for more time during the Associate Members Caucus and most importantly, to have the support of Regular Members and the Executive Board.

In order to best serve as the representative for all Associate Members, there needs to be more time dedicated to the Associate Members Caucus. This will ensure that important matters can be discussed, information can be shared, nominations and elections can be carried out, and to give candidates time to address Associate Members.

There is a wealth of knowledge and experience that exists among NOBLE members of all ranks and levels and it is currently underutilized.   I had the opportunity to address the Chapter Presidents during the Annual Conference to highlight the importance of being mentors.   Recruitment, retention and advancement are concerns at many all law enforcement agencies and NOBLE members have a unique opportunity to address this. I am very much aware of the time constraints upon us all, but the importance of having a mentor cannot be overstated.

I have been committed to and will continue to work tirelessly with all NOBLE members to ensure that we continue to increase not only the number of Associate Members but also their level of involvement.   The recent proposed changes to our Constitution remind us of the unwavering dedication displayed by Associate Members and we need to work together to ensure that their commitment doesn’t wane.

Through my future appearances and participation in Regional and Chapter functions, I hope to continue the legacy of my predecessors in ensuring that Associate Members are recognized as essential to the existence and longevity of this great organization.
