Green Sr. as their new State Executive director for the State of Oklahoma.   Chief Green had served as a MADD volunteer on their State advisory Council where he was chair of the council.    Chief Green stated he became involved with MADD by attending a MADD diversity conference in Dallas, TX.   The organization was reaching out to African American Law Enforcement Organization such as National Organization Of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) where Chief Green, also serves as the Chapter President for the state of Oklahoma and also serves as the NOBLE Representative to MADD.   NOBLE is one of the oldest and largest African American Law Enforcement Organizations in the United States with over three thousand members.

Chief Green, stated during that diversity conference we learned that mothers against drunk driven was not we known in the African American, Hispanic and native American communities.   One thing we knew drunk driven does not discriminate, this violent crime of being killed by a drunk driver can happen to anyone of any race.   MADD core mission for twenty five years has been to serve victims of drunk driven crashes.    MADD for over 25 years has been an advocate for raising the awareness of drinking and driven, and prevention of underage drinking.   MADD has been responsible for hundreds of new laws that have been passed through the federal government, as well as on the state level.   This violent crime of drinking and driven will not go away until states pass serious laws that will address this problem chief Green stated.

MADD CEO Chuck Hurley of Irving, TX where MADD National office is located stated, "MADD was very pleased to have Chief Green take over as their new State Executive Director for Oklahoma, he brings so much experience from the field of law enforcement to the position of State Executive Director, MADD has had a very good relationship with law enforcement for many years and to have Chief Green come on board to run our state office is outstanding, were looking for a lot of great things to happen with our State office located in Oklahoma City,  under the leadership of Chief Green."

As the State executive director for Oklahoma Chief Green, will be responsible for the development, management and implementation of all initiatives necessary to deliver services to victims, provide appropriate funding to deliver the services and promote the mission of MADD throughout the State of Oklahoma

Chief Green, a native of Hobbs, New Mexico has served as Chief Of Police with the Boley Police Department for the past seven years, he also serves as Oklahoma Chapter president for the National Organization Of Black Law Enforcement Executives, and he also serves as Chairman for the National Crime Solution Commission out of Atlanta, Georgia. He is a member of the Oklahoma Association of Chief’s of Police and the Oklahoma Troopers Association. Chief Green stated by him coming from the law enforcement community this will be a good fit for our MADD state office.   We will expand our working relationship with law enforcement across the state of Oklahoma.   The national headquarters located in Irving, TX made a move about two years ago to move the state office to Oklahoma City, where the state capitol is located.   Chief Green stated as the state executive director he will be able to work with state leaders on drunk driven laws.  We would like to make MADD more visible throughout the state of Oklahoma we have had a office in Tulsa, OK, MADD Green Country for many years, that office is very well recognized and has done a lot of great things in the Tulsa, OK area better know as the green country area

Here in the state of Oklahoma we do have a serious problem with drunk driven and underage drinking, did you know about three in every ten Americans will be involved in an Alcohol – related crash at some time in their lives.   The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office in 2006 reported 148 people were killed due to drunk driven. National in 2006 there were 42,642 total traffic fatalities and of these, 13,470 involved a driver with an illegal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or greater.   As you can see we still have a very serious problem in this country with people driven drunk.   Chief Green stated we have some states who have taken this problem serious such as his home state of New Mexico.   New Mexico was a state that for years ranked in the top five nationally with high DUI crashes and fatalities.   In 1988 the state reached an all time high in alcohol related traffic fatalities with 332 people being killed, the highest in the nation. In 2006 Mothers Against Drunk Driven New Mexico State office lead by Terry Huertaz, executive director of MADD New Mexico meet with state leaders about this serious problem.   New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson acknowledge those concerns of MADD and state legislators passed a new law that was signed by the Gov. where the state last year became the second state, after Washington, to require ignition interlocks installed in all first time convicted DUI offenders.   Since the law has taken effect New Mexico has seen a decrease in drunk driven fatalities. Governor Richardson appointed a DWI Strike Force to look at policy initiatives to fight drunk driving.

MADD in 2006 Nationally kicked off the campaign to eliminate drunk driven lead by their by national president Glynn Birch, who has stated with technology one day   we will be a nation without drunk driven, But until then we will continue to work with federal and state law makers on laws that will be tough on first time DUI offenders. Chief Green stated he encourages people who either or victims themselves or know of someone that was involved in a DUI crash to contact MADD we have volunteers on staff who can help with families deal with the loose of a love one.   Sometimes people don’t know about MADD and what all we can do to help them, there is never a charge for our services it’s all free.    If you need more information about MADD we are located at 5500 N.
