Civil Rights Outstanding Leadership Justice by Action Award
A leader who has demonstrated a high degree of dedication as proven by his or her commitment to address discrimination and the challenges of prejudice while serving as a community advocate
Civil Rights Justice by Action Award
1.
An individual or team that has implemented
positive strides to improve or effectively handle racial discrimination or bias-based policing in the law enforcement community
2.
A program designed to educate students about the struggles associated with the Civil Rights movement and reinforces the importance of fostering positive relations with individuals of different races, ages, ethnic origin, gender, religious backgrounds, and/or physical and mental abilities
3.
A community group that advocates for the need to heighten community awareness and concerns relative to the violation of civil rights; and the philosophy associated with basic human rights
4. An innovative concept or philosophy that improves human relations furthering the goals of Civil Rights
Civil Rights Excellence in Investigations
An individual or team that has successfully investigated racial profiling, bias-based policing, hate crimes, disparate treatment, or has developed innovative investigative techniques to address civil rights violations
Nominations must be submitted or postmarked by June 1, 2007.
