NOBLE's Civil Rights Committee is charged with informing the law enforcement community of the adverse effects of discrimination in the administration of justice and to support equality of rights for all law enforcement officers.

The 2008 NOBLE Civil Rights Awards will be presented at the Second Annual Civil Rights Awards Breakfast that will be held during NOBLE's 32nd Annual Training Conference and Exhibition in New York, New York.

Please help us identify individuals and/or organizations who have worked tirelessly in the area of civil rights. The deadline for nominations is June 13, 2008.

NOBLE Civil Rights Awards include:

Civil Rights Outstanding Leadership Justice by Action Award
Presented to a leader who has demonstrated a high degree of dedication as proven by his or her commitment to address discrimination and the challenges of prejudice while serving as a community advocate.

Civil Rights Justice by Action Award
Presented to:

  • An individual or team that has implemented positive strides to improve or effectively handle racial discrimination or bias-based policing in the law enforcement community;
  • A program designed to educate students about the struggles associated with the Civil Rights movement and reinforces the importance of fostering positive relations with individuals of different races, ages, ethnic origin, gender, religious backgrounds, and/orphysical and mental abilities;
  • A community group that advocates for the need to heighten community awareness and concerns relative to the violation of civil rights; and the philosophy associated with basic human rights.An innovative concept or philosophy that improveshuman relations furthering the goals of Civil Rights.

 

Civil Rights Excellence in Investigations Award
Presented to an individual or team that has successfully investigated racial profiling, bias-based policing, hate crimes, disparate treatment, or has developed innovative investigative techniques to address civil rights violations.
