About Sheila K. Brown
Deputy Chief Sheila K. Brown obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the College of New Jersey, formerly Trenton State College, in 1978. She began her law enforcement career as an Investigator with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, where she was assigned to the Rape Task Force and the Special Investigations Unit. In 1984 she began her service as a State Investigator with the Division of Criminal Justice, Office of the Attorney General. Over the years in her capacity as a State Investigator she was assigned to many units including the Superseded Trial Unit, Medicaid Fraud Unit, Prosecutors and Police Bureau and the Attorney General’s Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Unit. In 2000, she was promoted to Supervising State Investigator of the Division’s Corruption and Government Integrity Bureau. In 2002, she was promoted to Deputy Chief State Investigator in the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor.
During her tenure at the Division she has had many accomplishments and has received many accolades for her hard work and dedication. Among them: she was one of the subjects of an article written in the Star Ledger for her outstanding undercover work done in the investigation of Medicaid Clinics and Laboratories; she received a resolution from the Senate and General Assembly Joint Legislative Committee for Outstanding Police Work; she received an award from the New Jersey State Law Enforcement Officers Association for Outstanding Police Work; Certificates of Appreciation from the Department of Law and Public Safety for her team effort in an investigation of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and she also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Attorney General’s Office.
Sheila and her husband William, have lived in Hamilton Township, for 26 years, she has one son William IV.
She is retiring after 27+ years of service. She enjoys crocheting, reading and taking care of her family.
